PNA 2026 Annual Meeting & Election of Officers – February 21

Please join your neighbors for the PNA Annual Meeting on Saturday February 21st at 10:00 a.m. in LMH Health lower-level meeting room D-South (enter through the Arkansas Street entrance).

PNA’s annual meeting will include election of the Vice President and Secretary, each for a two-year term. PNA’s officers include the President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer. Together they comprise the Executive Board, which performs the main planning and operational functions for the association. Up for election in 2026 are the Vice President and Secretary, who will serve for two years.

• The Vice-President acts for the President in the event of the absence, resignation, disability, or death of the President. The Vice President performs such other duties as may be designated by the Executive Board.
• The Secretary keeps minutes and record votes from all meetings of the Association and the Executive Board.

Everyone who resides in the neighborhood is considered a member of the Association. Those over age 18 are eligible to hold an office. Your neighbors need your involvement!

Other significant topics to be discussed include:

• General planning for neighborhood activities, e.g., frequency of meetings, summer picnic, and Trunk-or-Treat
• Determining what issues are important to residents, such as sidewalks, traffic issues, trash and camping in Sandra Shaw and Burcham Parks, building connections with other neighborhood residents
• Identifying potential speakers for upcoming meetings

• Changing our Neighborhood Name

  Our neighborhood name of “Pinckney” was recently changed to “Pinkney.” This change occurred because Pinckney with a ‘c’ was associated with Charles Cotesworth Pinckney, a Revolutionary War general who signed the Constitution and who also was a slaveholder who believed slavery was fundamental to the American way of life (he owned a large plantation in South Carolina). Given this problematic history, neighborhood residents voted to change our neighborhood name. To learn more about the year-long process, go to our dedicated webpage. The final round of voting ultimately landed on the name of “Pinkney” in honor of William Pinkney, who gave a famous anti-slavery speech in 1789.
