Projects & Activities

The Pinkney Neighborhood Association undertakes several activities each year to benefit the neighborhood. Here are a few of the activities and projects PNA is involved in.  If you have any questions, have ideas for new activities or projects, or would like to get involved, please attend one of the PNA Monthly meetings (3rd Saturday of each month) or send a message to pinkneyneighborhood@gmail.com.

Growing Together Community Garden

The “Growing Together” Community Garden is located within the Pinkney neighborhood. The garden is situated on the southeast corner of the Community Health campus (Alabama and 3rd St). This garden is open to all in the Pinkney neighborhood and beyond!

If you want to garden or simply just eat some local produce, all are welcome! Please join the Garden’s Facebook group to learn more: https://www.facebook.com/groups/746484705845304.

Pinkney History & Voices of Pinkney Project

PNA is gathering information, photos, and recorded interviews regarding Pinkney Neighborhood’s rich history.  Check out our page chronicling this information, as we gather it.  If you have information or would like to help in gathering and preserving historical information, please contact us.

Keeping Pinkney Neighborhood Clean

Note: During the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, these activities are on hold.

PNA organizes several activities each year aimed at keeping Pinkney Neighborhood beautiful.  These include:

A scheduled Bulk Brush Pick-up date, usually in the spring, when the City of Lawrence Parks and Recreation Department brings around its chipper shredder equipment to take care of excess lawn and yard debris; and

A morning Pinkney Parks Clean-up day, when all Pinkney residents are encouraged to join with their neighbors to tidy up each of our six wonderful parks – Burcham, Clinton, Constant, Sandra Shaw, Woody Park, and Robinson Park.

Please check the PNA Calendar for scheduled dates for these events.
